SACHI BEST RAMEN

GRAPHIC DESIGN | PHOTOGRAPHY

Sachi is a well-loved Japanese restaurant in Cebu that offers authentic Japanese cuisine catered to the Filipino taste. They won Sunstar’s Best of Cebu 2015 & 2019 for Best Ramen and Best Takoyaki.

White Brick’s goal was to create packaging for Sachi’s take-out and frozen products that matches the quality and dedication in each and every dish that they make for their customers.

Sachi's selection of dishes is inspired by the Kansai Region’s Osaka, known as Japan’s Kitchen. Currently, Sachi has seven branches around Cebu with plans to expand further and offer their best ramen to more people.

With the current COVID-19 situation, people have been discouraged to dine out. This prompted the restaurant to bring the Sachi experience closer to their customers, right in the comfort of their own homes. The solution was to create frozen versions of their best selling products - the Tonkotsu Ramen, Tantanmen Ramen, Noku Koteri Ramen, Okonomiyaki, Takoyaki, and Gyoza.

Since take-out and deliveries are the way to go. The challenge was to create packaging for their new frozen variants without losing the Sachi experience that Cebuanos have come to know and love.

To stay true to the authentic Sachi experience, we made their best ramen the main inspiration for the design. We translated the components of their best-selling product into design elements while incorporating insights from Japanese culture, like calligraphy and woodblock printing into the design. Much like the brand, we adapted these elements to cater to the Filipino taste.

The design called for some food photography to make the dishes look mouth-wateringly delicious. We unpacked our equipment, went back to shooting after being under lockdown and were able to have our photoshoot with proper social distancing and precautionary measures.
